Yougu is located in District Ghanche Gilgit Baltistan. The total population is around 6,000 or 7,000. The total distance from Skardu to Yugu is 70 km. This is located on the bank of the Shyok River. District capital Khaplu is 25 km away from this valley. The other names of this valley are Yugu, Yogu, and Yougu.
The language of this valley is also Balti like other regions of Baltistan, but the style of speaking is slightly different from the other regions. The people of this valley are very kind and honest. They live in a community system. Due to the lack of facilities and education in this region, many people of Yogu work in other cities like Skardu, Islamabad< Karachi, Lahore, etc. Many others also work in other countries like UAE, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.
The students of Yogu continue their studies in local madrasas and go to Ghuwari, Khaplu, and Skardu for higher education.
